Identification: Forewing is dark brown with 2 large white patches.
Wing Span: 4 3/4 - 7 inches (12 - 18 cm).
Life History: Caterpillars have black horns at the ends of their abdomens, and feed together in groups.
Flight: . August in Kansas.
Caterpillar Hosts: Cordia in the Boraginaceae family and plants in the Annonaceae family including Rollinia deliciosa.
Adult Food: Flower nectar.
Habitat: Not reported.
Range: Brazil north through Central America to southern Mexico. Found only once in the United States, in Kansas.
Conservation: Not required for a rare stray.
