White-lined Sphinx
Hyles lineata

Observation date: September 25, 2023
Submitted by: COHumm
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I found this while weeding in our back yard. We live across the road from a farm. I know there are white lined Sphinx moths in our area but have never seen a caterpillar like this. It’s a beautiful neon green with black and white spots/lines and red stripes with a red horn tail. After reviewing other sightings it appears there have been a few in nearby counties in past couple years. I also found that some of the weeds I was removing are in fact “spurge”.
