Common Fungus Moth
Metalectra discalis

Observation date: August 05, 2023
Submitted by: Alison Davies
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This moth was resting on the surface of the vinyl siding on my house, late at night. It was very small and in order to convey its size, I took the photo first and then went in the house and got a dime, which I took back outside and held it up as close as I could to the moth without scaring it off. This moth could essentially be placed in the center of a dime without its wings touching the rim of the coin, and in fact with plenty of space in between.
