Weidemeyer's Admiral
Limenitis weidemeyerii

Observation date: June 06, 2023
Submitted by: Janeal W. Thompson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Assume this to be a male as it harassed anything within its perching territory, which were elderberry bushes and a T-post, near the bushes. 96 degrees, 52% humidity, clear skies, winds s-sw 10-15 MPH. This was a first time visitor to the owner's gardens, which were very active this day. Southeastern Colorado has had violent storms since May, the area is lush from the rainfall, but these gardens were unfortunately destroyed by wind and hail on the 23Jun2023.

Coordinator notes: Thanks Janeal...I got your email...will respond later on...I am sorry to hear about Lorie's gardens being destroyed by hail but glad to know she is seeing quite a few fly-ins (are or should I say "were" the passion vine and pipevine she planted several years ago still growing through past winters?). Weidemeyerii is a PROWERS COUNTY RECORD...was recorded in Baca County in 2013, so what took you gals so long on this one? Best wishes to both you and Lorie! More later, Mike
