Coordinator notes: Okay, this was marked as "Misidentified," telling me this is a "Tiger-striped Longwing" or Heliconius ismenius telchinia. I respectfully disagree based on comparing this photo with photos of both species on BOA, BAMONA and in the book "Butterflies of Mexico and Central America" by Jeffrey Glassberg. My sighting better matches this ID than the suggested one at several points on both wings and the thorax. So I am not changing it unless I receive a more detailed reason. True, this sighting does not have the yellow bar across the HW but neither do many specimens in all 3 other sources, including this website. Plus all the Tiger-striped Longwings have a black bar across the HW which this sighting does not.
