Observation notes: Large gray moth with distinct lateral abdominal yellow-and-black color pattern; hovering in small drainage at the head of Soledad Canyon mid-sloe of the Organ Mountains. Individual hovered for up to two minutes at this place, I do not know the behavior's reason. The early afternoon was hot, mostly sunny, and with moderate wind gusts occasionally blowing up-canyon.
